logo     New Jersey – January 5, 2016 – The Jersey Express come off a tough loss, to the #2 ranked Richmond Elite of Virginia, 93-104.  The Express stepped in to replace the North Carolina team, scheduled to play in Richmond Sunday. 

 

Playing short handed, the Express fought the highly ranked Elite to the finish.  The game was a close one throughout, with both teams going on late game runs.  The Express were down by 9 points, with 5minutes to go, and forced 2 consecutive 3D turnovers, but could'nt capitalize on the opportunities, to pull within 3.  The Express, who played with 7 players, last minute, were in foul trouble, and simply ran out of gas.  The Elite took advantage, and ran the ball, which resulted in the final score.

 

aoLed by Antoine Obery, 36pts, 14rbds, Jason Smith, 17pts, 6asts, Neville Joseph, 16pts, and Denzel Mensah chipped in 11.  New comer Amir Gilliam, finished with 5pts, 8asts, and 3stls.

 

donSaturday, the Express won over the New York Holy Storm, 121-97, and were led by Antoine Obery's 42pts & 20rbds, Donald Hennie, 26pts, Kelvin DeLosangeles, 15pts, Will Thompson, 13pts & 11rbds. Jamar Haig, 10pts, 13rbds & 2stls, and Travis Conyers made his return and debut, chipping in 10pts & 4rbds.

 

weekThe Express played the Elite tough, and look forward to seeing them in the playoffs.  Currently #9 in the just released ABA Power Rankings, the Express will be back on the road, to play back-to-back this weekend, taking on the Baltimore Hawks, and the DMV Warriors, January 9th & 10th.
