Jersey Express Take on NYC Thunder on Friday 12/2/11

Local ABA teams set to do battle at the Jersey City Armory


On Friday, December 2, the Jersey Express will host the New York City Thunder in the ABA’s Battle of the Hudson, at the Jersey City Armory at 7:30 pm, located at 678 Montgomery Street.

The Express (2-1) enter the game on a two-game winning streak, and most recently defeated the NY Charters, 147-93, on November 20.

The Express are featuring five players averaging double figures in points per game, and offer one of the most exciting offenses in the ABA, as they average 115.0 points per contest.

The renovation of the team’s official website, www.JerseyExpress.net, has been completed. Tickets are available on the website, and fans that sign up for the team’s email list will be offered a special two-for-one ticket deal. LIVEWIRE will perform at halftime on Friday night.

Jersey Express Win Second In A Row

Improve to 2-1 after 147-93 rout of New York Charters

 

On Sunday night, the Jersey Express defeated the New York Charters at Manhattan Science High School, 147-93, to improve to 2-1 on the season and win its second game in two days, following a 98-94 victory over the Staten Island Vipers on Saturday.

 


Dexter Gray scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in the win.
Guard Darren Travis was the leading scorer for the Express, pouring in 35 points on the night. He was nearly perfect from three-point range, as he shot 8-of-9 from downtown. Forward Dexter Gray was dominant in the paint, scoring 20 points and grabbing 20 rebounds, while dishing out six assists. Guards Sedale Walton and Edgardo Torres each added 23 points. In total, the Express had six players in double figures.

“I was very proud and excited by how the team played on Sunday coming off of an emotional home opener,” said head coach Joe Amador. “Dexter Gray set the tone from the state, establishing a presence on the inside and finishing with 20 points and 20 rebounds.”

 

The Express return home on Friday, December 2, as they look to take down the New York Charters once again. All of the Express home games are played at the team’s home court, the Jersey City Armory, located on 678 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, N.J. Jersey Express Earn 1st Win With Exciting Home Opener

Mayor Healy, and Community Come Out In Force to Support Home Team

 

The Jersey Express opened the 2011-2012 ABA home season on Saturday; with an exciting 98-94 win over Northeast Division rival the Staten Island vipers.

 

The Express, were led by a trio of players, with Darnell Braswell’ 23, Dexter Gray’s 20, 11 & 5blks, and Zahir Carrington’s 18 & 13.  Sedale Walton chipped in 14pts & 6rbds.  The Express are now 1-1 on this new season, and have 4 different players averaging double digit points, with Dexter & Zahir also averaging a double-double.
