Cyclones Team Up With Jersey Express For Day Of Fun And Charity

 

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (November 15, 2012) – Looking for some fun this upcoming Sunday? Centenary College will be presenting "Centenary College Extravaganza," an all-day event on Sunday with activities ranging from the Turf's Up 2012: Robert T. Quade Memorial 5K Run, Walk, and Dog Walk to the introduction of the semi-professional basketball team The Jersey Express who will be playing all home games this season at Centenary College!

Starting at 1:00pm, sign-ups for the first annual Turf's Up 2012: Robert T. Quade Memorial 5K Run, Walk, and Dog Walk will begin as Centenary College looks to remember one of the most influential men in the school's rich history. Earlier this year, Professor Emeritus Robert T. Quade passed away after years of dedicated service to the Centenary community. The founder of both the nationally ranked wrestling team and the cross country team, Professor Quade served as a leader in the business, academic, and athletics worlds for Centenary and the town of Hackettstown as a whole.

Funds raised from the event will benefit the Athletic Turf Field Project, created to install a new synthetic turf field for use by Centenary's sports teams as well as local communities and club teams.

Following the memorial 5K will be the Taste of the Town which will support the Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund from 3:30-5:30pm in the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center. The initiative will include food from local vendors and cost of admission is $10 towards the Scholarship Fund.

Capping off the day will be The Jersey Express Meet & Greet where Centenary College will officially introduce the semi-professional basketball team The Jersey Express to the Hackettstown community. Starting at 5:30pm, The Jersey Express will be joining Centenary College with a team introduction and a mini-game while Share Your Care For Clare Droesch – Crush Cancer Fund will be taking donations and auctioning off memorabilia as well as providing countless prizes for fans of all ages!
