Vanessa Carney joins the Express as “Official” Trainer

The Jersey Express have added Vanessa Carney ATC, MAT to its staff as “Official” Trainer for the upcoming season. Ms. Carney will handle ALL aspects of player care during home games, and be responsible for continuous care of the players, while working in conjunction with our team Doctors.

Ms. Carney ATC, MAT, has been the athletic trainer at Columbia High School in Maplewood and South Orange, New Jersey since 1992. She has established a functional athletic training facility for the recognition and evaluation, care, prevention, and management of athletic injuries which services 51 teams throughout the school year. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in physical education with a concentration in athletic training from Kean University and her Masters of Arts in teaching from Montclair State University.

She is currently licensed by the state board of medical examiners as an athletic trainer. She is certified in CPR: Basic Life Saving for the professional rescuer and a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross. Her professional affiliations include; the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, the Eastern Athletic Trainer’s Association, the Athletic Training Society of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Education Association.
